Simple 4th of July fun.....

This July 4th we didn't have the courage to brave the heat or the crowds this year for a big firework display. However......since we have the great advantage of having dear friends in the neighborhood who would have us......we opted for the backyard pool, store bought fireworks, and 2 minute drive! It is a blessing to share fellowship with family and friends in the comfort of community. Extraordinary friendship is when the kids disappear into the walls of a familiar house and the adults get lost in good conversation and food - all basking in love for one another!

We enjoyed festive food, crafts, and fireworks. Buying one's own fireworks is a fond childhood memory of mine. I remember how fun it was to purchase them, wait in anticipation for the 4th and then set them off ourselves. This is the first year we have bought our own. You would have thought from the kids' excitement that we were at Disneyland watching their fireworks display! It is good for kids to have pleasure in the little things! Thanks for a wonderful night, friends!
